Our client is a leading global, listed company headquartered in Zurich. On its behalf, we are looking for a pragmatic and innovative

Senior Finance Analyst, VAT (m/f) 100%

Whether you work out of Lyon, Hamburg, Milan, Barcelona or Zurich is irrelevant to our client – relevant is the fact that you implement its VAT policy across Europe to ensure effective governance. Thanks to modern technology, you will act as a remote advisor from either one of its quoted branches, supporting the management in finance and the wider business. Your main internal “clients”, however, are the various local sales teams. As a top-notch specialist on tax regulations, you know that this involves handling VAT filing submissions, managing tax ad hoc operating budgets and costs to ensure efficient usage of resources. In addition, you will prepare, review and submit European VAT returns and related filings. Moreover, you provide administrative audit support including data analysis. You are also involved in assisting the implementation of the countries’ and regions’ special projects in providing value-added tax services and identifying process improvement opportunities. Overall, you provide a fresh look and drive positive change. Last but not least, you promote best practices among your colleagues.

This function requires a university degree or professional qualification in accountancy/finance/law or a related discipline, supplemented by at least eight years of experience in a similar role, preferably as an inhouse counsel in accounting or VAT. You have proven expertise in the application of VAT principles and local jurisdictions across Europe – without, of course, knowing each and every relevant tax legislation by heart! Due to our client’s business model, previous experience in cross-border trade in a multinational setting is required. Juggling a variety of topics in a competent and timely manner is part of your key strengths. Your high attention to details together with your methodical approach and analytical skills help you to meet, or even exceed expectations. On a personal level, you possess a positive mentality and a problem-solving attitude, enabling you to easily adapt to the energetic business environment. Regardless of your work site, strong communications skills in English and ideally German are essential. The same applies to proficiency in SAP/ERP and MS Excel.
